ESL Classes

CAO works to help Colorado’s African refugees and immigrants change this statistic, at least locally, offering two levels of coursework in ESL: Basic, for those at the beginner level, and Intermediate/Advanced, for those who can speak some English but are not yet fluent. Basic classes (two levels) offer lifeskills-focused ESL; Intermediate/Advanced classes add in civics-focused English to put students on the path to citizenship. CAO offers two types of classes for its community. Basic and Intermediate/Advanced classes operate on closed enrollment procedures with open enrollment every three months (check calendar for the next enrollment period). The Open Conversation English classes are open enrollment; students can begin at anytime and come when their schedules allow. While students still must sign up and take a pre-test to gauge their level of coursework, the goal is to be adaptable and flexible with their schedules and offer some English instruction for every type of student. Generally, classes hold about 20 to 25 students.
