a local organization, with an international impact

Colorado African Organization (CAO) is a 501(c)(3), founded in 2003 by Africans for Africans. It was formed to be an umbrella organization of the various African populations residing in Colorado, particularly for the refugee communities.  After completing their preliminary resettlement, we wanted to create a place where groups could work together towards integration, rather than allowing the divisiveness of their past define their futures in America. We expanded our mission in 2014 to include advancing the cause of integration by fostering education, self-sufficiency, and empowerment for all refugees, asylum-seekers, and immigrants.

Our Mission Is To...

support Colorado’s refugee, immigrant, and asylum-seeking populations in their pursuit of integration, self-sufficiency and freedom.

....But Our Vision is So Much Larger Than That.

At CAO, we envision a world where everyone has a place to call home.
